Heat Rod

This long club has a u-shaped striking surface capable of heating itself to deadly temperatures.

This strange weapon consists of a one inch thick metal rod bent into a u-shape about two and a half feet long and attached at the top to a grip resembling that of a longsword. A small switch on the grip allow the wielder to activate the heat rod as a swift action. Activating the weapon causes the metal rod to become incredibly hot and the grip becomes warm but not uncomfortable to the touch. While active the Heat Rod deals an additional 1d8 points of fire damage, and gains the sundering and deadly special features. On a critical hit the fire damage dealt by an active heat rod is also multiplied. An active heat rod bypasses up to 5 points of hardness and its fire damage is not halved when dealt to an inanimate object. The rod is hot enough while active that pressing it to flammable objects will cause them to catch fire. While inactive a heat rod is identical to a club. Both an active and inactive heat rod are considered to be masterwork weapons and provide the +1 enhancement bonus on attack rolls.
